Today's Alice to Falfurrias, a ~38-mile ride to a town with an interesting name and not much else. There's actually lots else, it's just mostly abandoned. This whole area of the country seems to have suffered from thhe "oil curse," an abundance of natural resources in the past leading to a lack of other industries in the present. Now, with oil here seeming to have dried up or otherwise needed way less labor, there's a whole lot of not much.
There are, of course, still churches. Tonight's accomodation's the cafeteria of a Baptist school. Contrary to my concerns, I didn't hear even the slightest proselytizing tonight. Pretty much just a warm place to stay, some free cheese and crackers, and a bunch of awesome / extremely stinky cyclists:)
