In the category of things I could definitely get really in to and spend way more money and time than I have on is scuba diving. I went once before in the Virgin Islands; visibility was better then, but Amanda and I are actually diving towards a certification now. The equipment fetishism resembles that of personal computing technology, but with more of a point: you care about the infinitesimal details of how your second-stage regulator functions not because it’ll let you crank through a spreadsheet .3 milliseconds faster but because it’s vital to you achieving the primary rule of scuba diving: DON’T DIE:)
We’re exhausted after 2 dives and rocky boat rides, so Hopf House hits the spot. 2 liters of beer microbrewed in the restaurant and a belly full of pizza makes me ready to snore.
